My own personal journey through life has assisted me in having this perspective. I was born and raised in Ft. Worth, Texas in a strong Christian family. After going through a divorce in my early 20’s, I realized that I had much anger and I found myself needing someone to talk to who would not judge me. This experience in counseling helped my own personal growth both emotionally and spiritually.
Years later I decided to get back to school. It was there where I realized my skills in painting that I had yet to discover. I received a Bachelors in Fine Arts from UTA where I was offered the exciting opportunity to study abroad in Italy for a few weeks. During this eye opening experience, I soon realized that painting helped me to feel more relaxed and gave me a cathartic outlet. I was introduced to Art Therapy and started doing research on how much art can benefit people emotionally.
My primary focus for a painting is to create an energetic visual of the subject. I attempt to express my interpretation of the person’s emotion or state of being with the use of color and vibrant strokes of paint placed on canvas.
